Mathew and I were going to be in Singapore for only 18 hours and will just be spending a night so a backpacker hostel was our best option.
I found Campbell Inn Hostel in Little India with a fair review and an affordable price so I did not hesitate to click book right away. Thanks to the ease of using booking.com, you can book without a credit card and pay later when you arrive at the property.
Campbell Inn is conveniently located in Little India, close to the Rochor and Little India MRT Stations and surrounded by several restaurants, hawker stalls, and mini groceries.
We arrived around 10:30 in the evening at the hostel; the front desk was already closed but we have already been checked-in, our key card was left at the entrance with the wifi password on it. Neat.
Glad to know that our bunk beds were right next to each other (requested this upon booking). We booked two beds in a mixed dorm-type room. The beds were tidy as well as the room and it wasn’t fully booked yet which was a good thing. Less people, less noise equal a good night sleep.
Each bunk bed has a set of pillow and blanket. There’s also a bedside lamp and a Type G power socket. Good thing our chargers were also Type G so we didn’t need an adapter.
There are lockers inside the room for each bed which is helpful if you want to store your luggage or other important things you won’t need while you’re out exploring.
The rate is inclusive of a breakfast – toast, coffee and/or tea, so the price of S$35 for the both of us for a night is already a steal.
The shower rooms and toilet on the ground floor are being shared by all guests. I’m not sure though if the second level has its own common toilet and shower rooms or the one on the ground floor is already for everyone.
If you need to wash your dirty clothes and would like to use the laundry machine, you’d have to check with the front desk as they charge a minimal fee, ironing, however, is free.
The basic facilities are all functional and kept clean, the ambiance was comfortable and homey, beds and linen properly washed, and service was good. So all in all, it was a pretty good experience for us. It was an easy transaction and no hassle at all.
This is not a sponsored post, we were not paid in any kind and opinions are all our own.
